  OLIVER GALE, of Thirntoft, wedded Ellen Marshall, of Richmond, and had, with another son, James, who married, and resided some time in Spain, GEORGE GALE, esq. lord mayor of York, in 1534 and 1546, who died 2nd July, 1557, leaving, by Mary, his wife, daughter of Robert Lord, of Kendal, two sons and six daughters, viz.
